Legal Counsel: Job description
GreenStream Network Ltd is now looking for a Legal Counsel with 1 - 4 years’ experience to be based in Helsinki, Finland. The role is to support the General Counsel with the day-to-day legal functions within the group, delivering high-quality corporate governance and assisting in the management of legal risk.
GreenStream Network Ltd is an investor, investment management and advisory company in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate finance, with active operations in Europe, China and sub-Saharan Africa. It provides multi-disciplinary services to public and private organisations worldwide on clean energy technology, climate finance, environmental trading schemes, energy commodity markets and related policy and legislation. GreenStream offers customised clean energy and carbon investment vehicles and strategies, market and policies analysis, and expertise for energy and climate project assessment, development and management. In addition to being the co-Manager of the Renewable Energy Performance Platform www.repp-africa.org, GreenStream manages two carbon funds and designs, finances and implements energy service company (ESCO) business models in China.
Within a small legal team that plays a key role in the operations of the Company, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the General Counsel in general commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts
Managing the KYC process for a major renewables initiative in Africa
Responsibility for corporate governance tasks in relation to the Company, its joint ventures and its subsidiaries
Applying specialist knowledge in support of the Advisory business unit of the Company
Passionate about the challenge of climate change
University degree in law, with an strong academic record
Experience from working in a challenging international business environment either as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm with international clients
Ability to understand complex contractual issues and their practical implications to business, and provide clear legal advice
Ability to work independently and handle a variety of matters at once in a fast-paced environment
First class communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Excellent Finnish and English is required (written and spoken) and Chinese and/or French language skills advantageous
Motivated, flexible, and independent personality with a desire to develop an international reputation in the field of climate law
