Meet the REPP Team at COP22

The Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) is bringing together leading experts to discuss private sector mobilisation for clean energy projects in Africa in a series of side events at the COP22 in Marrakesh.

The REPP aims to mobilise private sector development activity and investment in small and medium scale renewable energy projects in sub-Saharan Africa. The REPP was developed by UNEP and EIB, and it is funded by the UK government and co-managed by GreenStream and Camco Clean Energy.

Geoff Sinclair

REPP Manager

Geoff is Managing Director of Camco Clean Energy and the REPP team leader.  He has over 20 years’ experience in project and structured finance with an emphasis on renewables and climate change.  He built Standard Bank’s climate finance business from scratch, running it for over 10 years, and also worked in regulatory policy for the New Zealand Treasury.  He has a MBA from London Business School.

 

Karl Upston-Hooper

Legal Counsel

Karl is the General Counsel of GreenStream, and key expert and Company Secretary of the REPP. Karl has led the legal work for various carbon funds and over 100 low-emission projects and contributes actively to the international climate and energy community. He holds an LLB from Victoria University of Wellington and an LLM (hons) from Katholieke Universiteit and is completing his Doctorate of Law at the University of Eastern Finland.

 

Benjamin Hugues

Investment Manager

Benjamin is Investment Manager at Camco Clean Energy and for the REPP. He leads investment and advisory mandates in projects, from origination through to structuring of transactions and execution. He has 10 years of experience in technical and finance functions and holds a M.Eng. from a French Grande Ecole and an MBA from the London Business School.

 

Hanna-Mari Ahonen

Hanna-Mari is an Environmental Economist specialising in climate finance and cooperation. She has 15 years of experience with clean energy projects, international standards for measuring emission reductions and UN climate negotiations. Under REPP, she focuses on environmental and social due diligence and tracking the results of REPP-supported projects.

 

Rachel Child

Project Manager

Rachel is a project manager at Camco and for REPP.  Rachel played a key role in the establishment of the facility, responsible for drafting REPP policies and procedures.  She has over ten years’ experience in supporting clean energy projects across Africa and Asia to access climate finance. Rachel is also a director of the Project Developer Forum.
